Paris Trip Planning Handbook

Paris Trip Planning Handbook

A step-by-step guide that shows you exactly how to plan your Paris trip, without the overwhelm.

Planning a Paris trip sounds exciting… until you realise how much there is to organise.

Flights, trains, hotels, tickets, packing, timing, and somehow you’re meant to know what to do first, what can wait, and what actually matters.

That’s exactly what this handbook solves.

Created by Paris expert Lily Heise, it walks you through every step of planning your trip, in the right order, from the moment you decide to go all the way to departure day and shows you exactly how to do each step right.

No guesswork. No missed steps. No last-minute panic.
No “wait, how do I actually do this?” moments either.

Planning a Paris trip sounds fun…
until you're deep in Google tabs trying to figure out:

📄 Do I need an ETIAS for my trip? When do I have to apply for it?

🍽 I want dinner with an Eiffel Tower view, do I need to book weeks out?

🛌 In which arrondissement should I book my accommodation?

🎟️ How far ahead do the Louvre and Eiffel Tower sell out?

Most advice tells you what to do… but not how to actually do it, or what matters and what doesn't.

The Paris Trip Planning Handbook walks you through the entire process, step by step.

From the moment you decide to visit, to the day you board your plane, you'll know exactly what to do, when to do it and how to do it right.

Meet Lily Heise

Lily Heise is a long-time Paris resident, travel writer, and trusted Paris expert who has spent over 20 years uncovering the city's best local spots, hidden gems, and genuinely worthwhile experiences. Most of what's in here comes from simply living here, and from years of steering visiting friends around the mistakes she made herself when she first arrived.

When she's not running her Paris walking tours or writing, you'll find her on a café terrasse, discovering something new to add to the itineraries. She also writes all of the advice-packed articles on the Love and Paris website, and makes videos for our social channels.

FAQs

Does this cover specific things to do in Paris, or just planning logistics?

This handbook is focused on the planning process: visas, bookings, budgeting, packing, timing, and logistics. For what to actually do and where to eat once you're there, check out our Itineraries!

How far in advance should I buy this?

As early as possible! The very first section covers things you should do immediately after deciding to visit Paris, like checking passport validity and getting travel insurance. The sooner you have it, the more useful it is.

How is this different from the free Paris Trip Checklist?

The Paris Trip Checklist is a great quick-reference tool. This handbook goes much deeper! It explains why each step matters, when to do it, and exactly how to do it well. Think of the checklist as the overview, and this as the full manual.

How long does it take to receive the handbook?

It's a digital download, so you'll get it straight to your inbox immediately after purchase. No waiting required.

Is this suitable for first-time visitors and repeat visitors?

Yes, especially if you've been before but still found planning stressful or realised you'd missed things (like booking certain attraction tickets too late, or not knowing about ETIAs). The handbook covers the steps that even experienced Paris travellers often overlook.

How do I save the guides to my phone/laptop?

To most easily access your Love and Paris guides and to make sure you can always reference them into the future, you’ll need to download your files to one or more of your devices. It’s fairly straightforward but if you are not sure how to do that then follow these steps.

Get in touch with us if you need us to reset your download attempts as each guide can be downloaded five times by default.

Do I need to print it?

Please don't! This guide is designed to be digital. It works best on your phone, tablet, or computer, especially because there are lots of clickable links you'll want to use as you work through it. Save it to your device and refer back to it as your trip gets closer.
